Barbara Bass Bakar 1972 Scholarship Fund
This expendable scholarship fund was established through the generosity of Gerson Bakar and Barbara Bass Bakar 1972.
Purpose of the Fund:
This fund shall be used to provide four-year scholarships for students with an interest in pursuing one of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields, who demonstrate financial need consistent with the financial aid policies of the college.
If, in future years, circumstances have changed so significantly that it is no longer practical to use this fund as defined, the Trustees of Smith College may use the fund’s income for other purposes, which, in their opinion, most closely fit the donors’ original intent.

This restricted expendable fund was established through the generosity of Dr. Randy Lee Comfort, Class of 1965.
The fund shall be used to provide financial assistance with a preference for students who: (1) are spending their entire junior year abroad, (2) are United States citizens, and (3) are members of groups underrepresented at Smith College, such as African Americans, Native Americans or Hispanics, etc.
